UV protection for the New Zealand market
The quality of our products is not just about how great they look; it’s about how durable they are under different conditions. As UV radiation from the New Zealand sun is one of the highest in the world, we need to ensure that the artificial greenery has very high quality UV stabilisers. Most of the artificial greenery made in China is for the Chinese market where UV radiation is not as high as in New Zealand. This means that UV protection is not as great an issue as it is here.
That is why we at ReadyLeaf chose a manufacturer who made their products for America and Australia.
The UV stabliliser our supplier is in made Germany by BASF, the largest chemical producer in the world. They are world leaders in UV protection on plastics and other surfaces so customers can rest assured that they are getting a product with excellent UV protection..
Materials – UV protection and Fire Rating
All our artificial hedge tiles readymade plant walls are made using virgin low density polyethylene which has zero impurities or toxins. That is why we don’t buy products made from recycled plastic which among other toxins contains cadmium and lead. We obtained tests for both lead and cadium conducted by SGS an international testing laboratory. SGS also tested the products for UV protection and fire rating. These tests are available on request as when we first included them on this page, they were downloaded and reused by other suppliers who had not obtained tests for their own products.
What we can tell you on this page is that our artificial greenery has a fire rating of B. The UV tests enable us to give a 5 year no fade guarantee under average daily sunlight exposure.normal sunlight exposure
Construction – Artificial Hedge Tiles and Readymade Vertical Gardens
ReadyLeaf artificial hedge tiles have a mesh backing with leaf sprigs clipped on at the junctions of the grid. Our premium range have a denser grid and over 40% leaf sprigs per tile. This gives a denser tile than standard versions available elsewhere.
The tiles are 50cm x 50cm and can break down to four smaller tiles 25cm x 25cm.
The smallest unit is 25cm x 25cm. Push on male/female connectors join the tiles to give seamless greenery.
All tiles come with leaves attached.
Their performance is measured by:
- Realistic form and colour
- Durability
- Quality and make of UV stabilising agents used
- Accelerated weather test rating
- Robustness of components
- Cleanliness of plastic eg. lead, cadmium.
Artificial Readymade Green Wall Panels
Our Readymade green wall panels are 1m x1m. They are made with a layer of foliage on a mesh grid and over 30 plants per panel. We are unable to find any similar product on the market which have as many plants per panel as our panels. The plants, foliage and mesh backing are made with the same material as our tiles – low density polyethylene.
RECYCLING
The tiles an readymade green wall panels have a number 4 recycling rating. Recycling soft plastic collection points are at most supermarkets, DIY stores and other centres. For more information please go visit the recycling store locator here

Extending Trellis – A PVC trellis frame with foliage attached
ReadyLeaf PVC extending trellis with leaf can extend out to 2.7m in length. The trellis concertinas out gradually lessening in height as the length grows. As shipped in its back it stands 1.3m high by 40cm wide. The leaf is densely packed in this form but becomes less dense as the trellis extends out.
The trellis is made of tough and durable UV stabilised PVC and UV stabilised foliage. ReadyLeaf trellis panels can be cut to length with a pair of snips or shears.
