Our Story
We are a husband and wife team who take pride in the friendly, helpful service we offer and the consistent quality of artificial greenery products.
It is 12 years since we went to China to source artificial greenery for the New Zealand market. It was important to go to the source because we wanted to be sure of the quality that New Zealanders expect when purchasing any product. Our first step was to go to the Canton Fair to meet representatives of the various artificial plant manufacturers and examine their products. Having experience in the landscape gardening industry we had a good eye for natural looking greenery. This also gave us insights to the manufacturers’ credentials, how long they had been in the industry and how well they communicated. From there we shortlisted half a dozen manufacturers for a factory visit.
This wasn’t just about the consistency or quality of their products, it was also important to see the factory conditions on the floor from a staff perspective and how modern the machinery was. One factory stood out amongst the others although those others were still passable.
We looked for a manufacturer who made realistic artificial greenery that durable and able to withstand the high UV climate in New Zealand. To put this to the test we collected samples from all six along with lab tests on their products for fire and UV rating. Most of the lab tests were conducted by the international testing laboratory SGS. .
Sourcing the Best Products
After collecting the samples and returning to New Zealand we installed them on our old north facing timber fence. The results were very revealing and only two of the six samples lasted more than 2 years without some degree of fading. Two never made it past the first 12 months and two still looked like new. One of these was from the factory we liked best. It was a playoff between these to see which lasted the longest. By the third year one sample began to show a blue tinge and the other one remained unchanged. This showed minor changes after 6 years. This was from the factory we felt from the start would be the best of the bunch. What’s more, this company already had established markets in America and Europe, so we knew they would be well versed in meeting stringent quality standards.
It was only after the third year that we imported our first container and built the online store to start selling our range of artificial greenery products. They were popular from the start and continue to sell well 12 years later.
As we primarily supply the commercial market, our supplier is happy to manufacture products to higher specs than off the rack versions, eg – panels with denser foliage, more natural colour and vertical gardens made to our layout using plants we select.
ReadyLeaf is not a click buy store where the customer has no contact with the seller. There is no chatbot with stock answers to your questions. You can call us almost any time (within reason) for information, advice, and suggestions. One of us is almost always available to talk to and we try to answer emails within the hour. Of course sometimes we are under the pump processing orders or talking to another customer but we try our best to get back to you as quickly as possible. Our Market
Our customers range from the private home owner, property developers and large commercial centres and shopping malls. Architects, quantity specifiers and design companies make up our regular clientele so we are happy to quote from plans. We often consult with designers to advise what might work best for their clients and find many of these return to us for advice on future projects.

Stock Availability
Our stock is in Auckland and Wellington warehouses and pick-ups are available on request. South Island customers receive their orders from the Wellington warehouse when possible to reduce shipping costs. Samples are available on request
Why artificial plants and foliage
1. No watering or irrigation. Water is one of the earth’s most precious resources. Living plant walls use water.
2. No fertilisers or pesticides. To stay looking good living plant walls use fertilisers and pesticides.
3. No maintenance. No special lighting or energy needs for maintenance.

We offer a 5 year Warranty on our UV stabilised products. Lab test results are available on request.
- They are free of heavy metals like cadmium and lead.
- ReadyLeaf artificial box hedges, tiles and plant wall panels are UV stabilised with high performance UV stabilising agents.
Recycling
Can be recycled Made of low density polyethylene (LDPE). No.4 plastic can be recycled through the Soft Plastics Recycling Scheme.
